The wind died down a little bit on Wednesday afternoon, giving the Ankeny Centennial girls’ golf team a chance to lower its scores at Briarwood Golf Club.
The Jaguars took advantage of the favorable conditions.
Centennial posted a 207-239 victory over visiting Fort Dodge in a CIML Iowa Conference dual meet. It was the Jaguars’ best score of the season on their home course.
Payton Drefke carded a 47 to earn medalist honors for the first time in her career. She had a par on the No. 2 hole, then had another one on No. 4.
Makayla Newsom of Fort Dodge was the runner-up. She shot a 51.
Kaitlyn Ault and Samantha Lazear each fired a 53 for the Jaguars. Lazear had a par on the No. 7 hole.
Olivia Joensen provided Centennial’s fourth counting score with a 54. Vivian Wilson had a 56, and Grace Miller finished with a 62.
The Jaguars evened their record at 2-2 in the conference.
