The Ankeny football team clinched a top-four seed in the Class 5A playoffs with a 66-7 victory over visiting Council Bluffs Lincoln on Friday. The first-round pairings will be announced on Saturday at 10 a.m.
The Hawks are No. 4 in the final Class 5A rankings from the Iowa High School Athletic Association with an RPI of .6392. They are the highest-ranked team of the seven squads with a 7-2 record.
Ankeny will likely host a first-round game on Friday against No. 13 Waukee (5-4) based on the RPI rankings. The Hawks won an earlier meeting against Waukee, 14-10, on Sept. 4.
The winner of that game would likely face No. 5 Indianola (7-2) or No. 12 Iowa City Liberty (6-3) in the quarterfinals on Nov. 6. However, some of the matchups could be adjusted due to geographic reasons.
