Allison Doocy was still pitching for the Ankeny softball team the last time a University of Iowa player earned all-Region honors.
On May 20, Doocy joined that exclusive club when she was named second-team all-Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Megan Blank was the last Hawkeye to receive that honor in 2014.
Doocy, a senior pitcher, compiled an 11-5 record with two saves in the 2021 season. She pitched 108 1/3 innings over 22 games, posting an ERA of 2.00.
Doocy tossed 11 complete games and had four shutouts. She struck out 109 batters while walking only 27.
Doocy ranks eighth in Iowa career pitching appearances (134) and is tied for eighth in career complete games (75). She ranks sixth in career strikeouts (730).
On May 2, Doocy threw the 18th no-hitter in program history.
“Allison has forever left her mark on this program,” Iowa coach Renee Gillispie said in a press release. “She has left her name all over the Iowa record books and is an all-around great teammate and leader. Allison exemplifies what it means to be an Iowa Hawkeye.”
