The Ankeny Centennial baseball team dropped a 12-5 decision to second-ranked Urbandale in a non-conference game on Friday at Centennial.
The J-Hawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. They added three runs in the second, one in the third and four more in the fifth to build a 12-1 advantage before Centennial scored three times in the bottom of the fifth to extend the game.
Sophomore Sam Harris went 3-for-4 with three doubles and five RBIs to lead Urbandale (7-2). Gehrig Christensen went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs.
Four Urbandale pitchers combined on a five-hitter. Christensen had three strikeouts in his one inning of work.
Jackson Powell went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Centennial (3-5). Damin Churchman tripled and drove in a run, while Easton Miller also had one RBI.
Trey Hansen (1-2) took the loss. He allowed seven earned runs on five hits over the first 1 2/3 innings.
The Jaguars are hosting North Polk (4-1) and Davenport North (2-5) in the Tim Heggen Invitational on Saturday.
