Ankeny Centennial boys’ basketball coach Bob Fontana went deeper into his bench on Tuesday night.
Coming off a hard-fought win over Marshalltown 24 hours earlier, the 10th-ranked Jaguars went on the road and posted a 76-48 victory over Des Moines North in a non-conference contest.
“We were able to play 10 or 11 kids throughout the game on a regular basis,” Fontana said. “Nobody played more than 23 minutes. I was just rotating guys in because we’ve got another road game on Friday night (at Urbandale).”

Centennial held a 30-22 lead at halftime. The Jaguars then outscored North in the third quarter, 24-8, to build a 54-30 advantage.
“They’re a scrappy team and they’re athletic, and they knocked down some shots,” Fontana said of the Polar Bears. “We missed a lot of shots early in the game at the rim. We just didn’t finish real well, other than Reece Robinson in the first half. But we played a lot better in the second half and got a good flow going.”
Chris Louis scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds as Centennial improved its overall record to 12-8. Robinson had 13 points and five rebounds, including his third 3-point goal of the season.

Caden Kelling had a double-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals. Jackson Snyder added nine points.
North dropped to 2-19 on the season.
“It was a good night for us,” Fontana said. “You take the road win, and we were able to save some energy and some legs for Friday.”
