Despite some strong performances by Caleb Peterson, the Ankeny Centennial boys’ tennis team dropped a 9-2 decision at Valley in a non-conference meet on Friday.
Peterson rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Cam Johnson in the No. 1 singles match. He then teamed up with Kellen Jones for a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Johnson and Beck Sissel at No. 1 doubles.
However, Valley dominated the other nine matches, winning all of them in straight sets. The Tigers are now 6-0 and have won every meet in convincing fashion.
Centennial dropped to 0-2 on the season. The Jaguars will play Bettendorf (2-0) at 9 a.m. and Cedar Falls (2-2) at 1 p.m. in the Marshalltown Invitational on Saturday.
