Ankeny boys’ tennis coach Ron Miller knew that his team’s schedule was going to get much tougher after the Hawks posted a 7-4 victory at Fort Dodge on April 11.
He was right.
Ankeny suffered an 11-0 loss to seventh-ranked Mason City on Wednesday at the Prairie Ridge courts. It was the eighth straight loss–and the third by shutout–for the Hawks, who fell to 1-5 in the CIML Iowa Conference and 1-8 overall.
Mason City, which improved its records to 4-2 and 6-3, won all 11 matches in straight sets.
Ankeny will compete in a Class 2A district tournament on Monday at Waukee Northwest.
