Another Ankeny football player has committed to play for Iowa Western Community College.
Ankeny tight end Jeremiah Kruger announced his commitment to the Reivers on Wednesday. His teammate, defensive back PJ Westover, previously committed to Iowa Western along with a trio of Ankeny Centennial players–offensive lineman Cavan Jones, linebacker Hudson Simon and defensive lineman Brody Targgart.
“It’s nice that PJ and them are going there, but at the end of the day it wasn’t a huge factor,” Kruger said.
Kruger caught eight passes for 164 yards and a touchdown while helping Ankeny to a 9-2 record last season. The Hawks reached the Class 5A quarterfinals before losing to Johnston.
As a junior, Kruger caught seven passes for 71 yards. He helped Ankeny to a runner-up finish in Class 5A.
Kruger will be going from one winning program to another.
“Obviously, they’re a really successful program with super nice facilities,” he said. “On top of that, they’re one of the best jucos for getting kids developed and out (to other programs).”
