The Ankeny boys’ tennis team opened CIML Conference play on Monday with a 9-2 loss at Waukee.
The Warriors won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Ankeny’s lone victory came at the No. 2 position, where Dylan Victor rolled to a 6-3, 6-0 win over Yatharth Sirohi.
Waukee also won four of the five doubles matches in straight sets. Victor earned his second win of the day for the Hawks, teaming up with Avin Legg for a 1-6, 6-2, 10-5 triumph over Sirohi and Abhi Kayithi at the No. 2 spot.
Ankeny’s overall record dropped to 0-2. The Hawks will host another conference meet against Johnston on Tuesday.
