Five different players had two hits apiece as the Ankeny Centennial baseball team defeated visiting Norwalk, 8-3, in a non-conference game on Tuesday.
The top-ranked Jaguars used a four-run fourth inning to build a 6-0 lead. They pounded out 12 hits against a trio of Norwalk pitchers.
Centennial improved to 18-1 on the season. The Warriors’ record dropped to 5-13.
Kyle Miller went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while Isaac Bruhl went 2-for-4 with a double, stole a base and drove in a run. Nick Severson and Emerson Alberhasky each went 2-for-3 and knocked in a run, and Lucas Bruhl went 2-for-2 and scored a run.
Cole Grider went 1-for-2 and had two RBIs in the win. Sean Stewart doubled and drove in a run.
Preston Glatt (1-0) earned the victory on the mound. He allowed six hits over the first 5 2/3 innings.
Glatt was replaced by Tripp Rawlings during the sixth inning, when Norwalk scored three unearned runs. Rawlings got the final four outs to preserve the win.
Centennial will host a CIML Conference game against Waukee (9-10) on Wednesday. The Jaguars swept a doubleheader at Waukee on May 22 by scores of 9-0 and 7-1.
