Ankeny senior point guard Carson Johnson has verbally committed to play basketball at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
Johnson announced his decision on social media Tuesday.

Johnson helped the Hawks to a 9-15 record last year after undergoing knee surgery in the offseason. He averaged a team-high 15.0 points per game and shot 42.0 percent from 3-point range (58-of-138).
Johnson scored in double figures 20 times. He poured in a career-high 24 points in Ankeny’s biggest win of the year–a 56-51 upset over then-No. 3 Waukee.
Johnson was named to the Class 4A all-state second team by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association. He was also selected to the CIML Conference first team.
Johnson, who has scored 725 career points, was promoted to the varsity squad as a freshman for the 2020-21 season. He averaged 8.1 points while starting 14 times and received all-conference honorable mention.
As a sophomore, Johnson helped the Hawks to a 19-5 record and a trip to the Class 4A state tournament. He averaged 9.9 points and 2.5 assists while leading the team with 32 3-pointers.
Johnson was named to the CIML Iowa Conference second team and to the Class 4A Substate 1 team.
