The fifth-ranked Ankeny girls’ swimming team closed out its home schedule with a 112-38 victory over Indianola in a non-conference dual meet on Thursday at Trail Point Aquatics Center.
Ankeny raised its overall record to 5-4 by winning 10 of the 12 events.
“It was a great last home meet for us,” said Ankeny coach Dustin Rhoads. “A lot of girls were able to swim some different things and use our depth to help our team be successful.”
Josie Parton and Alexis Hergenreter each won two individual events to lead the way. Parton won the 200 freestyle (2:01.72) and the 100 breaststroke (1:12.90), while Hergenreter captured the 100 freestyle (56.48) and the 100 backstroke (1:04.86).
Sophie Loeffler took the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:21.62. Gracie Lindaman won the 50 freestyle in 25.69.
Miranda Gagne provided another victory in the diving event, posting a total of 202.30 points. Teammate Presley Drew was second with 195.00 points.
Ankeny opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. The foursome of Hergenreter, Lindaman, Leah Schafer and Loeffler was clocked in 1:59.62.
Lindaman later anchored the winning 200 freestyle relay. She teamed up with Parton, Maddie Trosper and Paige Spoelstra to post a time of 1:43.49.
Ankeny closed out the meet with another victory in the 400 freestyle relay. The quartet of Hergenreter, Lindaman, Parton and Schafer turned in a time of 3:52.55.
Spoelstra added runner-up finishes in the 200 freestyle (2:07.73) and the 100 freestyle (57.99). Kylee Stone placed second in both the 200 IM (2:34.17) and the backstroke (1:09.21).
Schafer was the runner-up in the 100 butterfly (1:04.87) and the 500 freestyle (5:49.78). Trosper was second in the 50 freestyle in 26.45.
“This has been a fun week for our team!” Rhoads said. “We will keep going and working hard with two more big meets coming up next week!”
Ankeny will visit Southeast Polk on Tuesday for a CIML Conference dual meet, then will travel to Ames on Thursday for a non-conference dual meet against the Little Cyclones.
