Ankeny Centennial baseball standout Joey Oakie has been named to the Class 4A North Central all-district first team for the third consecutive year. The teams were selected by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Oakie was among eight players from Ankeny to earn all-district honors in Class 4A. He was joined on the first team by teammate Isaac Bruhl and Jack Clevidence of Ankeny, while Centennial placed Emerson Alberhasky, Leyton Kolln and Sean Stewart on the second team along with Henry Ha and Blake Morgan of Ankeny.

Ankeny Christian Academy also had two honorees in the Class 1A Central district. Eli Christensen was named to the first team, while Tyler Mahoney was a second-team selection.

Oakie, a senior pitcher, led the Jaguars to a 29-11 record by going 4-2 on the mound with a 1.26 ERA. He racked up 76 strikeouts in just 39 innings of work while limiting opposing batters to a .117 average.

At the plate, Oakie batted .327 with nine doubles. He led the team with four home runs and 33 RBIs.

Earlier this month, Oakie was selected by the Cleveland Guardians with the 84th overall pick in the third round of the 2024 MLB amateur draft. He elected to turn pro rather than play college baseball at Iowa.

Bruhl, a junior second baseman, batted a team-high .378 with two triples, eight doubles and 15 RBIs. He also led the Jaguars with 45 hits, 35 singles and 17 stolen bases.

Clevidence, a senior outfielder, led the Hawks to a 19-23 mark. He paced the team in several offensive categories, batting .397 with three homers, 14 doubles and 36 RBIs.

Clevidence also went 3-5 on the mound with a 3.74 ERA. He will play for Evansville in the fall.

Alberhasky, a senior pitcher, compiled a 5-2 record with a 1.27 ERA and 55 strikeouts. The Wartburg recruit also batted .233 with six doubles and 20 RBIs.

Kolln, a senior catcher, batted .306 with one homer, six doubles and 21 RBIs. He will play for Northeast (Neb.) Community College.

Stewart, a senior, was selected to a utility position. The Iowa Central recruit went 7-1 with a 2.03 ERA and 62 strikeouts while batting .231 with a double and nine RBIs.

Ha, a senior catcher, batted .291 with two doubles and 16 RBIs. He will play for Simpson.

Morgan, a senior outfielder, batted .355 with one homer, 12 doubles and 28 RBIs. He is headed to Southwest Virginia College.

Christensen, a senior pitcher, led ACA to an 18-9 record. The Eagles advanced to a Class 1A substate final for the first time in school history before dropping a 1-0 decision in nine innings to Lynnville-Sully, the eventual state champion.

Christensen went 7-3 with a 1.60 ERA and ranked fifth in the entire state with 112 strikeouts. The DMACC (Boone) recruit also batted a team-high .518 with two homers, three triples, nine doubles and 14 RBIs.

Mahoney, a senior pitcher, posted a 4-2 record with a 2.10 ERA and 36 strikeouts. He also batted .284 with three doubles and 14 RBIs.
