On Friday, the University of Sioux Falls football program picked up a verbal commitment from an Ankeny player.
Shortly thereafter, the Cougars landed another Ankeny prospect.
Ankeny Centennial senior-to-be Chase Kluver announced his verbal commitment to Sioux Falls on social media about one hour after fellow defensive back Sam Sandvig of Ankeny also committed to the Cougars.
“I had a couple options,” Kluver said. “I had offers from Minnesota State-Mankato, Southwest Minnesota State, Wayne State and obviously Sioux Falls. Sioux Falls was a home for me from the get-go.”
As a junior, Kluver helped the Jaguars to a 7-5 record and a trip to the Class 5A semifinals. He was named to the all-district second team in District 1.
Kluver tied for the team lead in interceptions with three. He also tied for third on the squad with 49 tackles, including 37 solo stops.
Kluver said he bonded immediately with Sioux Falls defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Spencer Capitani, as well as head coach Jim Glogowski.
“Coach Capitani made me feel that the connection was real and not something it wasn’t,” Kluver said. “He was straight up, and I loved that. Coach Glo was also extremely energetic and clearly wanted me to be there, and that made the decision that much easier.”
