The seventh-ranked Ankeny girls’ swimming team completed its dual-meet season on Tuesday with a 111-75 victory at No. 14 Southeast Polk.
The Hawkettes won seven of the 12 events. They finished 3-3 in the CIML Conference and improved their overall mark to 8-4.
“We had a good meet to close out the regular season,” said Ankeny coach Dustin Rhoads. “It is crazy we are already at this point in the season.”
Gracie Lindaman swept the sprint events for Ankeny. She won the 50 freestyle in 25.54 seconds, then took the 100 freestyle in 55.80.
Lindaman also anchored the winning 200 medley relay. She teamed up with Madison Trosper, Kyra Zinn and Charlie Villhauer to post a time of 1:56.77.
“I thought the girls swam and dove well,” Rhoads said. “Gracie had an awesome night with a few season bests to help our team to the win.”
Allie Kearney also won two individual events. She captured the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:26.47, then later won the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.41.
Zinn added a runner-up finish in the breaststroke. She was clocked in 1:18.86.
Villhauer and Trosper provided the Hawkettes’ other victories. Villhauer took the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:01.85.
Trosper won the 100 backstroke in 1:06.11. Leah Schafer was second in that event, posting a time of 1:07.33.
Maggie Blackmore and Paige Spoelstra added two other runner-up finishes. Spoelstra posted a time of 2:06.62 in the 200 freestyle, while Blackmore turned in a time of 5:43.49 in the 500 freestyle.
“I know the girls all are excited for the postseason these next few weeks and to get more and more rest,” Rhoads said. “We have the conference meets next week at Waukee and just found out we are going to Mason City for regionals. Even though it is far away, we have been there three times in the last year and know what to expect and it’s a nice pool. We will do well.
“I am looking forward to this last month with this group,” he added.
