CIML Conference basketball standings

The second-ranked Valley boys’ basketball team capped off a big week with a 62-49 victory over No. 3 Waukee Northwest on Friday, giving coach BJ Windhorst his 200th win at the school.

The two-time defending Class 4A state champion Tigers also posted a 74-62 triumph at No. 9 Dowling Catholic on Tuesday, allowing them to remain in sole possession of first place in the CIML Conference.

Valley (9-1) leads No. 7 Waukee (8-1) by a half-game heading into the final month of the season. Those two teams will play twice in February.

On the girls’ side, No. 1 Johnston moved closer to another conference championship with a 66-32 win over No. 15 Ankeny on Friday. No. 2 Dowling Catholic kept its title hopes alive with a 52-45 victory at No. 4 Ankeny Centennial.

The Dragons (11-0) lead Dowling (9-1) by a game and a half. The Maroons will host Johnston on Friday, looking to avenge an earlier 49-41 loss.
