Ankeny senior Mason Randolph played on both sides of the ball during his high school football career.
His future, though, appears to be as a defensive back.
Randolph has verbally committed to play for Grand View, which recruited him to become a part of the Vikings’ secondary.
“It was a tough decision, but the right one,” said Randolph. “They started talking to me super early in my recruitment process, and it’s super nice to stay close to home.”
Randolph made 22 tackles last season, including eight solo stops, and also had one interception. He helped the Hawks to a 6-5 record.
As a junior, Randolph saw a lot of action at wide receiver, catching 18 passes for 184 yards and one touchdown. He helped Ankeny to a 9-4 mark and a runner-up finish in Class 5A.
