The Ankeny girls’ bowling team bounced back from its first loss by defeating host Ames in a non-conference meet on Tuesday at Perfect Games.
The Hawkettes won the meet by a score of 2,134 to 2,066. It marked only the third time this season that coach Nick Payton’s squad won by fewer than 100 pins.
Coming off a loss to unbeaten Waukee on Thursday at Warrior Lanes, Ankeny raised its overall record to 9-1. The Little Cyclones dropped to 3-5.
Olivia Harris led the Hawkettes with a 390 series. She bowled games of 197 and 193.
Johanna Shaw had a 307 total, including a high game of 195. Savannah Dye bowled a 259 series, Brooklyn Dietz had a 229, Ava Johnson rolled a 202, and Willow Zemen added a 170.
This was a girls’ only meet for Ankeny. The Ames boys’ team hosted Des Moines North, which does not have a girls’ squad.
Both Ankeny teams will compete in the CIML Conference meet on Feb. 12 at Game Day Lanes.
