
The Ankeny boys’ and girls’ track teams combined for 15 first-place finishes in the Valley Relays on Friday. The meet, which was unscored, had been postponed earlier this season.
Makenna Madetzke provided two of the Hawkettes’ eight victories. She won the 3,000 in a time of 10:31.70 and the 1,500 in 4:49.18.
Coach TJ Jumper’s team swept the jumping events. Maya Durbin-Wilson won the long jump with a leap of 17 feet 8 inches, while Reagan Hanfelt and Mila Badillo took the top two places in the high jump at 5-5 and 4-9, respectively.
Lillian Buckley captured the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:07.92. She also teamed up with Charlee Cibula, Morgan Fisher and Reagan Prendergast to win the distance medley relay in 4:23.71.
Prendergast also ran on the winning 4×800 relay. She combined with Gillian Schramm, Ivy Wiegand and Drew Beason to post a time of 9:54.58.
The Hawkettes also won the 4×200 relay. The team of Ava Leinen, Durbin-Wilson, Brylee Bach and Riley Kayser was clocked in 1:50.35.
Gracie Lindaman placed second in the 400. She turned in a time of 1:02.36.

The Ankeny boys’ squad, meanwhile, racked up seven wins. Hurdlers Hayden Carlson and Landon Pote, who were coming off a tough weekend at the Drake Relays, had a role in three of them.
Carlson won the 110 hurdles in 14.27 seconds, while Pote took the high jump at 6-3. Those two also combined with Sam Madsen and Gavin Wise to win the shuttle hurdle relay in 57.51.
Sprinters Logan Fairchild and Tyler Sickerson also had a good night after missing much of the season. Sickerson won the 100 in 10.70, while Fairchild captured the 400 in 48.31.
Ryan Tomlinson added another victory in the shot put. He recorded a throw of 52 feet 6 inches.
The Hawks’ other win came in the 4×400 relay, where the foursome of Tate Brownsberger, Isaiah Smith, Quin Somers and Nicholas Robie crossed the finish line in 3:27.03.
