The Ankeny Centennial baseball team got the best of Southeast Polk in both games of a doubleheader a few weeks ago, but this time the Rams got some revenge.
Southeast Polk used a pair of six-run innings to defeat the Jaguars, 14-3, in six innings on Monday night.
“It was a team loss, and hopefully we will learn from the experience,” said Centennial coach Mark Hey. “These boys will definitely rebound.”

The Rams pounded out 12 hits off four Centennial pitchers while moving ahead of the Jaguars and into sixth place in the CIML Conference. They are now 6-7 in the league and 16-9 overall, while Centennial’s records dropped to 7-9 and 13-12.
Alex Williams went 3-for-4 and had three RBIs for Southeast Polk. Zachary Lacquement and Jaxson Regan each went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs.
Connor Williams (3-2) took the loss. He allowed six earned runs on four hits over the first 1 2/3 innings.

Meanwhile, the Jaguars struggled to generate much offense against Zion McCool. McCool went the distance, allowing just two earned runs on five hits.
Trae Houser went 2-for-3 and scored a pair of runs. Will Morris, Alex Cory and Owen Gasperi each had a hit, and Morris knocked in a run.
Centennial will be back in action on Wednesday with a conference doubleheader at Ankeny. The Hawks are 2-11 in the league and 6-20 overall after dropping a 7-3 decision to seventh-ranked Urbandale on Monday.
The Jaguars won the first meeting against Ankeny, 11-4, on June 1.
