The Ankeny girls’ tennis team closed out the regular season on Tuesday with a 10-1 loss at Boone.
Nadia and Sofia Despotovich posted the Hawkettes’ lone victory at No. 4 doubles. They defeated Halle Bailey and Sarah Owen, 4-1, 4-3.
Ankeny’s record dropped to 3-11. The Hawkettes will now be idle until Sept. 23, when they compete in a Class 2A regional tournament at Marshalltown.
The Toreadors improved to 10-1. They haven’t lost since being edged by Pella, 6-5, in their season opener on Aug. 13 at the Iowa State Indoor Tennis Facility.
