Ankeny junior Sickerson sets new Iowa indoor state record in 200-meter dash

Ankeny sprinter Tyler Sickerson is already in midseason form. Coed state track qualifiers announced: Ankeny girls’ team advances in 17 events

The coed state track qualifiers have been announced by the Iowa Girls' High School Athletic Union and the Iowa High School Athletic Association. Taking advantage of the perfect weather conditions, Ankeny's duo of Tyler Sickerson and Jack Belding both qualified for the final in the boys' 100-meter dash at the Drake Relays on Friday morning. Senior Carter Accola of the Ankeny boys' track team is one of the state's top hurdlers. He currently ranks second in Class 4A in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.40 seconds. High school qualifiers for the Drake Relays have been announced. The Ankeny boys' track team qualified in a total of 12 events, but one of the Hawks' top qualifiers will not be competing.
