Hunter Strait appears to have his confidence back.
The senior point guard scored 20 points to lead the Ankeny Centennial boys’ basketball team to a 50-38 victory over visiting Ames on Friday. He made a pair of 3-point goals and went 8-for-10 at the free-throw line.
Strait also had five rebounds, two assists and four steals as the Jaguars improved to 3-1 in the CIML Central Conference and 6-3 overall.
“The past four games before break I had kind of been struggling confidence-wise, but over break my teammates really helped me get it back,” Strait said. “That led into me being more aggressive tonight for sure.”

Zach Kluver had nine points and three assists in the win. Micah Johnson added nine points and two blocks.
Centennial jumped out to a 13-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. Ames closed the gap to 22-17 at halftime, but the Jaguars then regained control in the second half.
It was the fourth consecutive loss for the Little Cyclones, who dropped to 1-2 in the league and 3-6 overall.
