Creighton volleyball star Jaali Winters was the recipient of one of the major awards on Monday night at the inaugural edition of The Billy’s, which celebrates the school’s top individual and team accomplishments from the last year.
Winters, a former Ankeny Centennial standout, was named along with Creighton baseball player Michael Emodi as the Carl M. Reinert, S.J., Female and Male Student-Athletes of the Year. She helped the Bluejays capture their fourth consecutive Big East Conference regular-season and tournament titles last fall.
The Creighton volleyball team, which also features former Ankeny star Megan Ballenger, was honored as well. The Bluejays received the Women’s Team of the Year Award.
The event featured 30 awards, including 14 True Blue Awards that helped recognize one student-athlete from each squad who embodied the values of resiliency, high character, selflessness, humility, discipline, dedication, determination, reliability, culture and a team-first attitude.
