Senior Dane Churchman is a member of the Ankeny Centennial baseball team. He has helped the 10th-ranked Jaguars to an 11-9 record.
Churchman has compiled a 3-0 mark on the mound with a 0.94 ERA. He has racked up 18 strikeouts while limiting opposing hitters to a .235 average.
“Dane is what we call a grinder,” said Centennial coach Mark Hey. “He gets out and does whatever we ask him to do. He’s played second base for us, and he’s pitched for us. We knew he was a pretty good pitcher, but he has come out and pitched with a lot of confidence and pitched like a senior. He’s been a guy that we’ve been able to count on. He’s been outstanding.”
The Jaguars will host a doubleheader against No. 2 Johnston (15-3) on Wednesday.
