Senior Morgan Severseike is a sprinter on the Ankeny Centennial girls’ track squad. She is also on the Jaguars’ leadership team.
On the track, Severseike has played a valuable role in various relay events.
“At Johnston, we had a last-minute quarantine of a girl in the 4×200,” said Centennial coach Andrew Kruzich. “We had to shuffle our lineup, and Morgan ended up getting moved from the ‘B’ team distance medley to the varsity distance medley to cover for the girl we moved. That D Med ran to first place.
“At Iowa City, she was on the 4×200 of ‘second string’ sprinters who filled in when we didn’t load it. She took a tumble in the handoff, but we got the stick around, pulled an unexpected second place, and got eight points toward a team score that saw only 6.5 points separate second through fourth places in the team score.
“Morgan works hard, is a leader on the team, and can always be counted on to give her best in any situation,” he added.
The Jaguars will compete in the Chuck Silvey Invitational on Thursday at Urbandale.
