Ankeny volleyball standout Ava Reynolds has been named to the Class 5A all-tournament team for the second straight year.
Reynolds had 19 kills, 11 digs and four blocks in the Hawkettes’ loss to eventual champion Pleasant Valley in Wednesday’s semifinals at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse in Cedar Rapids. On Monday, she pounded 27 kills as Ankeny rallied for a five-set victory over CIML rival Urbandale in the quarterfinals.
Pleasant Valley swept Cedar Falls in Thursday’s championship match to win its first state title. The Spartans were led to the crown by setter Kora Ruff, who was selected captain of the all-tournament team.
Ruff was joined on the squad by teammates Chloe Cline and Halle Vice. Alivia Bronner and Katie Remmer of Cedar Falls were also named to the team along with Ava Helming of Johnston.
