Girls’ basketball standouts Cleao Murray of Ankeny Centennial and Jenna Pitz of Ankeny have received all-state honors from the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association.
Murray, a senior guard, was named to the Class 5A first team. Pitz, a junior guard, was a third-team selection.
Murray led the Jaguars to a 20-4 record and a repeat appearance in the Class 5A state tournament. She set a single-season school record with 352 points.
Pitz averaged 11.8 points and 3.6 assists per game. She helped the Hawkettes to a 16-7 mark.
Murray was joined on the first team by Hannah Stuelke of Cedar Rapids Washington, Sahara Williams and Halli Poock of Waterloo West, Jada Gyamfi and Anna Gossling of Johnston, Kelsey Joens of Iowa City High and Halle Vice of Pleasant Valley. Stuelke, an Iowa recruit, was named Miss Iowa Basketball.
