The Ankeny girls’ golf team evened its record at 2-2 in the CIML Iowa Conference with a 201-253 victory over Mason City on Monday at the Mason City Country Club.
Mason City dropped to 0-2 in the league.
“We were able to notch another win in our conference, which is always a good thing,” said Ankeny coach Seth Hagarty. “Hopefully, we can continue that (Tuesday) against Ames.”
Ankeny’s Olivia Froehlich carded a 49 to earn medalist honors for the first time in her career. Gia Blaser and Isabella Ross each shot a 50 to tie for runner-up honors.
Addison Smith had a 52 for the Hawkettes. Jori Webb added a 54.
“Once again, the conditions were less than desirable,” Hagarty said. “It was really wet with all the rain they had over the weekend, and it was cold. However, Olivia had another great nine-hole score to lead the way for us! She has truly been putting the time in on the weekends to work on her game, and it’s really paying off lately!”
The Hawkettes will compete in the Ames Quadrangular on Tuesday at Veenker Golf Course. The meet will be used as a conference dual between Ankeny and Ames.
Ankeny Centennial and Marshalltown will also be in the field.
