

The Ankeny Centennial boys’ track team enjoyed some success on Wednesday at Fort Dodge, where the Jaguars will return on May 12 for a Class 4A district meet.
Centennial placed third among seven squads in the CIML Iowa Conference meet with 116 points. Ankeny took fourth with 112.
Waukee Northwest easily captured the conference title in its first season as a varsity program, racking up 186 points. Mason City was the runner-up with 132.
The Jaguars sealed their third-place finish by placing third in the final event, the 4×400 relay. The foursome of Owen Gates, Gabe Murphy, London Hershberger and Cooper Majors posted a time of 3:35.80.
The Ankeny team of Abel Squires, Max Doyle, Jet Bergwall and Alex Cox placed fourth in 3:40.58. If the Hawks had placed third ahead of Centennial, the two rivals would have tied for third place overall with 114 points.

The Jaguars’ lone victory came in the 4×200 relay. The quartet of Alec Schneider, Connor Welsch, Max Snyder and Gates was clocked in 1:30.88.
Ankeny won four events, including the 4×100 relay. In that race, the team of Colin Kadolph, Caleb Sickerson, Jack Belding and Aidan Adamson posted a time of 43.20.
Belding won the 100 in 11.27 seconds. Teammate Tyler Sickerson took second in that event in 11.34.
Carter Accola captured the 110 hurdles. He was clocked in 14.74.
Levi Hill won the 3,200 in a time of 9:46.82. He also took second in the 800 in 2:02.76.
Tyson Miller added a second-place finish for the Hawks in the 200. He turned in a time of 22.92.
Majors took second for the Jaguars in the 400 hurdles in 57.61. Teammate Drake Dittmar was third in 58.45.
Centennial’s Sam Dietz was the runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 49 feet 8 inches. Isaiah Valentine placed third in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, while Karsten Peters took third in the 800 in 2:03.46.
Peters also helped the Jaguars to a second-place finish in the 4×800 relay. He teamed up with Majors, Tyler Schermerhorn and Aammin Hassan to post a time of 8:27.26.
Centennial also placed second in the shuttle hurdle relay. The team of Easton Miller, Malachi Curvey, Cael Woods and Tyler Bruns turned in a time of 1:02.51.
