Another former Ankeny wide receiver will be joining the Iowa football program.
Jordan Kumm, who helped Iowa Central Community College to a 9-2 record last year, has committed to the Hawkeyes. He announced his commitment via Twitter on Tuesday.
“After my first visit, I felt like there wasn’t really anywhere else that I would rather be,” said Kumm, who will join the program as a walk-on.
Kumm becomes the third former Ankeny player in the Hawkeyes’ receiving group. Brody Brecht and Arland Bruce IV joined the program as freshmen a year ago.
Kumm earned all-state honors as a senior at Ankeny in 2019, when he helped the Hawks to a 7-4 record. He caught 30 passes for 688 yards and six touchdowns.
Last year, Kumm had 29 receptions for 380 yards for the Tritons, who capped off their season with a 35-27 victory over Monroe College in the Graphic Edge Bowl at the UNI-Dome. He caught three passes for 56 yards in the win.
“During second semester I started to get into contact with Iowa,” Kumm said. “I started to create a relationship with (receivers) coach (Kelton) Copeland, and we had talked and he told me that he would want me to come up as soon as possible this summer if that was something that I was interested in.
“So when I had some other schools contact me, I told them that I was going to be going to Iowa this next year,” he added.
