Miller scores his first collegiate TD to help Cyclones roll past SEMO in Rogers’ debut

Former Ankeny Centennial standout Easton Miller scored his first collegiate touchdown on Saturday to help the Iowa State football team begin the Jimmy Rogers era with a 38-10 victory over Southeast Missouri at Jack Trice Stadium.

Miller caught a 10-yard scoring pass from Jaylen Raynor to give the Cyclones a 28-7 lead with 2 minutes 50 seconds left in the second quarter. The redshirt junior running back had two carries for nine yards and caught the first two passes of his career for 15 yards.

Miller was not listed on Iowa State’s two-deep roster, but he saw a lot of action in the backfield while sharing playing time with Aiden Flora, Cameron Pettaway and Arnold Barnes. He also played extensively on special teams.

Redshirt sophomore Connor Welsch, another former Centennial standout, played on special teams as well. Welsch and Miller were among the Iowa State players who remained in Ames after coach Matt Campbell departed last year to take over the Penn State program.

The Cyclones travel to Iowa City next Saturday to face Iowa at Kinnick Stadium. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. on NBC.
