It was a perfect week for the Ankeny Centennial baseball team.
The Jaguars extended their winning streak to seven games by defeating Davenport North, 13-3, in six innings in the Tim Heggen Classic on Saturday at Centennial.
Centennial used a five-run third inning to take a 6-3 lead. After scoring two runs in the fourth, the Jaguars added five more runs in the sixth to end the game.
Centennial improved to 14-9 on the season. The Wildcats dropped to 6-14.
Cole Grider and Nick Severson each went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. It was the third home run of the year for Grider, and it was the second for Severson–who also had a double.
Damin Churchman went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs. He also stole two bases and scored three times.
Joey Oakie had three RBIs for the Jaguars. Sean Stewart went 2-for-3 and knocked in a run.
Ian McGhiey (1-2) was the winning pitcher. He allowed one earned run on three hits while recording five strikeouts.
Centennial will host a CIML Iowa Conference doubleheader against Fort Dodge (10-13) on Monday. The two teams split a twinbill on May 31.
