The Ankeny volleyball team hasn’t lost in the last month.
The second-ranked Hawkettes cruised to the title of the Bettendorf Invitational on Saturday, winning all five of their matches without dropping a set. They have now won 14 consecutive matches.
Ankeny, which hasn’t lost since it fell to No. 4 Dowling Catholic in the championship match of the Caroline Found Invitational on Sept. 10 at Iowa City West, is now 32-4 on the season.
“This was a good tournament to get everyone involved,” said Ankeny coach Dani Kohut Lynch. “It was awesome to see the whole team compete.”
Two of Ankeny’s wins came against the host Bulldogs. The Hawkettes opened the tournament with a 21-19, 21-17 win, then later defeated Bettendorf again, 21-15, 21-17, during bracket play.
Ankeny has won the tournament six straight times dating back to 2016. The Hawkettes did not travel to Bettendorf for the tournament in 2020 due to COVID-19.
Ankeny will close out the regular season on Tuesday with a CIML Conference match at No. 9 Valley (15-17). The Hawkettes have already wrapped up the outright league crown.
