
The pairings have been announced for the Class 3A state duals wrestling tournament.
Fourth-seeded Ankeny (20-2) will meet fifth-seeded Valley in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Xtream Arena in Coralville. The CIML Conference rivals met on Jan. 12 at Valley, where the Hawks posted a 42-23 victory.
Ankeny is making its second straight appearance in the state duals tournament. The Hawks placed sixth a year ago.
Sixth-seeded Ankeny Centennial (21-6) will face third-seeded Waverly-Shell Rock in the quarterfinals at 11 a.m. Waverly-Shell Rock is the defending champion.
The Jaguars are making their second appearance in the tournament in school history. They placed third in 2019.

The Ankeny-Valley winner will face either No. 1 Southeast Polk or No. 8 Dubuque Hempstead in the semifinals at 3 p.m. If Centennial can upset Waverly-Shell Rock, the Jaguars would meet either No. 2 Bettendorf or No. 7 Fort Dodge in the semifinals.
The Hawks dropped a 45-12 decision to Southeast Polk on Thursday, but could get a rematch against the Rams on Saturday.
“I’d love it,” Ankeny coach Jack Wignall said of the possibility.
The consolation semifinals will be held at 1 p.m. The fifth- and seventh-place matches will be held at 6:30 p.m., with the championship and third-place matches to follow at 8:30 p.m.
Waverly-Shell Rock posted a 30-26 win over Southeast Polk in last year’s title match.
