Here are 3A state wrestling matchups for Ankeny, Centennial qualifiers

The Class 3A state wrestling tournament gets under way on Wednesday with the preliminary and first-round matches at 6 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena.

With 24 qualifiers in each weight class, the top eight seeds will receive a bye into the first round. Ankeny Centennial has four top-eight seeds among its 12 qualifiers, while Ankeny has three top-eight seeds among its nine qualifiers.

The Hawks boast the two highest seeds in senior Jace Anderson and junior Ben Hansen. Anderson is seeded second at 152 pounds behind only Jacob Helgeson of Johnston, while Hansen is seeded third at 138.

Ankeny sophomore Truman Folkers also landed a top-eight seed. He is seeded seventh at 113.

The Jaguars are led by junior Lucas Bruhl, who is seeded fifth at 145. Freshman Cale Vandermark at 106 and senior Zach English at 182 are both seeded sixth, while junior Ari Ehlts is seeded eighth at 160.

Here are the preliminary and first-round matchups for all of the Ankeny and Centennial qualifiers:

106: No. 6 Cale Vandermark (AC) (40-6) bye, will face either No. 11 Jayden Luna (Bettendorf) (26-16) or No. 22 Connor Stickrod (Spencer (28-16) in first round; No. 14 Ben Walsh (A) (27-19) vs. No. 19 Lucas Stearns (Marion) (31-11), would face No. 3 Mitchell Pins (Dubuque Hempstead) (28-6) with a win.

113: No. 7 Truman Folkers (A) (33-11) bye, will face either No. 10 Evan Simpson (Cedar Falls) (33-9) or No. 23 Ashton Wisneski (Pleasant Valley) (19-16) in first round; No. 11 Cody Vandermark (AC) (38-11) vs. No. 22 Chris Davis (Iowa City High) (22-22), would face No. 6 Wil Oberbroeckling (Southeast Polk) (30-8) with a win.

120: No. 10 JJ Maihan (A) (23-11) vs. No. 23 Jose Mendieta (Clear Creek Amana) (18-27), would face No. 7 Justis Jesuroga (Southeast Polk) (31-13) with a win; No. 17 Payton Bright (AC) (31-17) vs. No. 16 Mason Besler (Dubuque Senior) (22-16), would face No. 1 Koufax Christensen (Waukee Northwest) (38-1) with a win.

126: No. 20 Leo Perez Perez (A) (19-16) vs. No. 13 Sevastian Soto (Dowling Catholic) (21-10), would face No. 4 Nate Bierma (Valley) (39-6) with a win; No. 23 Andrew Roland (AC) (21-17) vs. No. 10 Alex Bumba (C.R. Prairie) (32-15), would face No. 7 Maximus Riggins (Southeast Polk) (31-4) with a win.

132: No. 10 Cael Wiener (AC) (38-10) vs. No. 23 Jay Halverson (Clear Creek Amana) (20-12), would face No. 7 Zane Behrends (Waverly-Shell Rock) (22-14) with a win.

138: No. 3 Ben Hansen (A) (36-7) bye, will face either No. 14 Wyatt Vlasek (C.R. Prairie) (35-15) or No. 19 Lincoln Hutt (Waukee Northwest) (24-19) in first round; No. 9 Isaac Bruhl (AC) (21-6) vs. No. 24 Carson Springer (DC-G) (16-17), would face No. 8 Donovan Card (Norwalk) (30-12) with a win.

145: No. 5 Lucas Bruhl (AC) (40-2) bye, will face either No. 12 Jake Pontier (Indianola) (32-13) or No. 21 Luke Benson (DC-G) (26-16) in first round.

152: No. 2 Jace Anderson (A) (31-3) bye, will face either No. 15 Andrew Pelton (Waukee) (20-9) or No. 18 Henry Koehn (Cedar Falls) (26-14) in first round.

160: No. 8 Ari Ehlts (AC) (33-12) bye, will face either No. 9 Gerald Norton (Cedar Falls) (29-12) or No. 24 Brendan Smith (DC-G) (24-16) in first round.

170: No. 18 Logan Song (AC) (21-6) vs. No. 15 Damaris Henderson (Waterloo East) (14-10), would face No. 2 Brent Slade (Southeast Polk) (39-4) with a win.

182: No. 6 Zach English (AC) (36-5) bye, will face either No. 11 Evan Pollard (Dowling Catholic) (15-9) or No. 22 Isaiah Kellow (Indianola) (26-20) in first round; No. 10 Xander Kenworthy (A) (28-10) vs. No. 23 Salomon Cordero (Burlington) (27-11), would face No. 7 Jack Laughlin (Carlisle) (38-9) with a win.
