Ankeny girls’ basketball standouts Savannah Gage and Jenna Pitz have been named to the Class 5A West all-district team for the second straight year.
The duo was joined on the squad by a pair of Ankeny Centennial players, Makenna Clark and Jaeden Pratt. The all-district teams were selected by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association.
Gage, a sophomore guard, led the Hawkettes to a 12-11 record this season. She averaged 16.6 points per game and made 33 3-point goals.
Pitz, a senior guard, averaged 10.5 points. She led her team with 98 assists.
Clark, a senior guard, has helped Centennial to an 18-6 mark. She scored 20 points on Monday as the Jaguars defeated Waterloo West, 60-51, in the Class 5A quarterfinals at the state tournament.
Clark is averaging 9.3 points. She leads the team with 35 3-pointers.
Pratt, a sophomore forward, is averaging 9.6 points and 7.7 rebounds. She leads the team with 25 blocks.
Johnston placed three players on the team–Aili Tanke, Aaliyah Riley and Jenica Lewis. Dowling Catholic’s Kristin Meyer was named district coach of the year.
