The Ankeny boys’ tennis team opened its season on Friday with an 8-1 loss to visiting Cedar Rapids Jefferson in a non-conference meet at the Prairie Ridge courts.
Mason Lyons provided the Hawks’ lone victory at No. 1 singles. He posted a 6-3, 6-4 win over Logan Miller.
Jefferson (1-1) won the other five singles matches in straight sets. The J-Hawks then swept the doubles matches–all of them in straight sets.
Ankeny will play in the Johnston Invitational on Saturday.
