After dropping a 6-5 decision at Urbandale on Wednesday, the Ankeny boys’ tennis team traveled to Valley on Thursday and suffered a 9-2 loss to the fourth-ranked Tigers.
Valley improved to 6-2 in the CIML Conference and 9-3 overall. The Hawks’ records dropped to 1-7 and 1-8.
Ankeny got wins from the No. 4 doubles team of Colin and Drew Lueck and the No. 5 doubles team of Zachary Parsons and Kuennen Bodensteiner.
On Wednesday, the Hawks won four of the six singles matches at Urbandale. Mason Lyons, Dylan Victor, Ethan Bovee and Cale Josten all won in straight sets.
However, the J-Hawks then won four of the five doubles matches to secure the victory. They raised their records to 3-5 in the league and 9-5 overall.
Ankeny’s lone win in doubles came at the No. 3 spot, where Josten and Aiden Walker rallied for a 2-6, 7-5, 10-6 triumph.
The Hawks will compete in a Class 2A district tournament on Monday at Ames.
