The Ankeny Centennial softball team blasted three more home runs in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader sweep on Friday at Waterloo West.

The top-ranked Jaguars rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to post a 9-4 win in the opener, then completed the sweep with a 10-0 victory. They extended their winning streak to nine games and improved to 13-1 overall, while Waterloo West’s record fell to 4-10.

Jordyn Kennedy, Mady Ott and Lauren Gustofson each homered for Centennial, which is now tied for second in the entire state with 18 roundtrippers. Southeast Polk leads the way with 24 home runs.

Kennedy went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs. She hit her fifth home run, tying her with Sydney Morris for the team lead.

Ott went 5-for-7 in the doubleheader. She hit her second homer, doubled and had three RBIs in the first game.

Gustofson added a solo blast, her first of the year. Mackenzie James went 4-for-4 with a double, while Morris and Mariah Belzer each went 3-for-4 with a double.

The Jaguars used a three-run fifth inning to break a 2-2 tie. They added two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh.

Jadeyn Stahr (4-1) earned the win, allowing four earned runs on eight hits over the first six innings. Reliever Lauren Sandholm got the final three outs.

The nightcap was also tied after four innings. Centennial took a 2-0 lead in the fifth, then scored two runs in the sixth and six more in the seventh.

Cora Boyle (1-0) tossed a six-hitter with five strikeouts in her first start in the pitcher’s circle this season. She also went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs.

Ott went 3-for-4 with a double, scored three runs and knocked in two more. Payton Drefke went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Addi Starr also doubled and drove in a run.

James and Kennedy each had two hits and an RBI. Malin Vallejo went 2-for-3 and scored a pair of runs.

The Jaguars will play another non-conference twinbill on Saturday at No. 5 Linn-Mar (Marion) (11-3).
