The Class 5A regional softball pairings have been announced by the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union. Both top-ranked Ankeny Centennial and No. 3 Ankeny earned No. 1 seeds in their respective regions.
The Jaguars (22-4) will host Des Moines East (6-26) or Des Moines North (0-17) in a Region 4 semifinal on Saturday, July 8 at 7 p.m. Ames (19-13) will host Waterloo West (10-15) in the other semifinal.
The Hawkettes (20-6) will host Cedar Falls (10-16) or Waterloo East (3-22) in a Region 1 semifinal on Saturday, July 8 at 7 p.m. No. 12 Waukee (14-17) will host Council Bluffs Jefferson (12-26) in the other semifinal.
The regional finals will be played on Tuesday, July 11 at 7 p.m. Both Ankeny and Centennial would host those games if they win their semifinal contests.
