Former Ankeny thrower Justice Miller has decided to join the Northern Iowa men’s track and field program.
Justice will transfer from Grand View University, where he spent the first two seasons of his college career.
“(Grand View) was some of the best times (of my life), and I really do love the team,” Miller said. “But it was a mixture of wanting to be at a higher level, wanting to have that next-level training, and wanting (better) competition after making it to NAIA nationals already and placing well.”
Miller placed ninth in the javelin at this year’s NAIA nationals, which were held at Marion, Ind., on May 24-26. He recorded a throw of 59.19 meters and just missed scoring a team point for the Vikings, who tied for 37th place overall with eight points.
Miller will be reunited at UNI with former Ankeny teammate Jacob Baier, who will be a junior in the fall. Baier also competes in the throwing events.
“I will have two years of eligibility left,” Miller said.
