The Ankeny girls’ bowling team earned its first win of the season on Thursday by defeating Greene County in a non-conference meet at B-Roll Bowling.
Ankeny won the meet by a score of 1,953 to 1,423. The team improved its record to 1-3, while Greene County dropped to 0-4.
Olivia Harris led the Hawkettes with a career-high series of 382. Savannah Dye bowled a 259, Kali Ogg had a 239, Lili Sinclair rolled a 238, Brooklyn Dietz had a 228, and Ava Johnson added a 139.
In the boys’ meet, Greene County prevailed by a score of 2,388 to 2,286. Freshman Chase Fecher bowled a 350 series to lead the Rams, who are now 4-0.
Despite the win, it was the lowest score of the season for Greene County. The Rams had averaged a total of 2,677 in their first three meets, which were all played at their home venue of Spare Time Lanes & Lounge in Jefferson.
Kole Jordan led the Hawks with a 311 series. Sam Tigges bowled a 303, Jarrett Hansen had a 300, Jackson Roberts rolled a 284, Gavin Johnston had a 274, and Jamal Miller finished with a 260.
Both Ankeny teams will face Southeast Polk in a CIML Conference meet on Tuesday at Great Escape. The Rams are unbeaten in both boys’ and girls’ competition.
