Ankeny sprinter Tyler Sickerson is already in midseason form.
The junior won two events and set a pair of personal records on Sunday while competing for the Turbo Track Club at the Northwest Missouri open meet. He took the 60-meter dash in 6.89 seconds, which is No. 4 on the Iowa all-time list, and also captured the 200 in 22.10, which is the new Iowa indoor state mark.
“This offseason I’ve fixed some lingering injuries from last season, which allowed me to start training harder,” said Sickerson. “However, since the weather has been so bad I haven’t done much sprinting for the past month. My coach and I were expecting something around what I ran in the 60 but in the 200 we didn’t know what time to expect because of my limited training volume.
“Overall, I’m really excited with the times I ran, and I can’t wait to keep improving them from here,” he added.
