Ankeny Centennial senior Avery Lewis has committed to play soccer at Rockhurst University, an NCAA Division II school in Kansas City.
Lewis, a midfielder, announced her decision Thursday on social media.
“I’m extremely blessed to announce my commitment to play soccer and further my education at Rockhurst University!” Lewis tweeted on X. “Thank you to all my teammates, coaches, family, and friends for the endless support! I’d like to thank God for the opportunity and guidance. Go hawks”
Lewis has racked up eight goals and 10 assists in her high school career. As a sophomore in 2022, she scored two goals and had six assists while helping the Jaguars to the Class 3A state title.
Last season, Lewis had two goals and four assists as Centennial posted a 10-7-1 record and again qualified for the state tournament. She earned all-conference honorable mention.
