Ankeny girls’ golf coach Kelley Emke was happy with her team’s progress on Tuesday.
The Hawkettes shot a 194 in a CIML Conference triangular meet at Willow Creek, where they placed third behind Valley (179) and Dowling Catholic (191).
“Overall, I am happy with the results!” Emke said. “This is our lowest nine holes yet this season, and it was awesome to break 200 and reach 194. It’s always hard to lose (by a close margin), but again we continue to learn together and work on improving our scores one meet at a time and so far as a team we have been able to make some great progress.”
Valley’s Shanel Sayre carded a 6-over-par 42 to earn medalist honors. Ankeny’s Isabella Ross was the runner-up with a 43.
Ross made back-to-back pars on the Nos. 4 and 5 holes.
“Isabella played awesome,” Emke said.
Gracie Block placed seventh overall with a 47. Addison Smith shot a 51, Ava Sesker had a 53, and Aubree Moeller added a 59.
The Hawkettes will host a conference triangular meet against Waukee and Waukee Northwest on Thursday at Otter Creek.
