Ankeny golfers battle gusty winds, place 3rd in triangular meet at Otter Creek

The conditions were far from ideal for the Ankeny girls’ golf team’s home opener on Thursday.

The Hawkettes battled gusty winds and cold temperatures while hosting a CIML Conference triangular meet at Otter Creek. They finished third overall with a 217 total.

Waukee Northwest easily won the meet with a 174. Waukee shot a 196 to place second.

Isabella Ross carded a 46 to lead Ankeny. Addison Smith shot a 52, Gracie Block had a 59, Ava Sesker fired a 60, and Aubree Moeller finished with a 66.

Northwest’s Hannah Pettitt earned medalist honors with a 39. Teammate Chloe Sundet was the runner-up with a 43.
