The seventh-ranked Ankeny boys’ soccer team snapped a two-game losing skid with a 3-1 victory on Thursday over visiting Carlisle, the No. 10 squad in Class 3A.
Landon Benge scored a pair of goals for the Hawks. He now has nine of the team’s 19 goals this season.
Austin Lundberg also found the net for his sixth goal of the year. All of the scoring came in the first half.
Cal Wahlberg contributed two assists, giving him a team-high six on the season. Gannon Ripley added one.
Goalkeepers Jackson Dockendorff and Ben Herwig combined for five saves as Ankeny ended the Wildcats’ three-game winning streak. The Hawks improved to 8-5 overall, while Carlisle’s record dropped to 8-4.
Ankeny will host a non-conference game against Pleasant Valley (7-2) on Saturday.
