The Ankeny Centennial girls’ golf team earned a fifth-place finish among 14 squads in the Linda Bloom Invitational on Thursday at American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown.
It was the third meet in three days for the Jaguars, who posted a 374 total.
Waukee Northwest shot a 327 to defend its team title. Ames was the runner-up with a 335.
Natalie Henson of Marshalltown carded a 1-over-par 72 to earn medalist honors. She birdied three of the first four holes.
Centennial’s Payton Drefke was the runner-up with a 78. She made a birdie on the par-5, No. 15 hole.
“The wind was tough again today,” said Drefke. “I made some putts which helped my score. There were a couple times I got on the wrong side of the green and got myself into trouble, but overall I think I did pretty well. As a team, I think we played well this week having three meets in a row, but I think we’re all looking forward to calmer winds.”
Cate Trewet shot a 98 for the Jaguars, while Kate Geiselhart and Brooke Ridout each fired a 99. Kaylee Sprecher and Sophia Wilson each finished with a 101.
