The Ankeny Centennial boys’ tennis team dropped an 11-0 decision to fifth-ranked Valley in a CIML Conference meet on Monday at the Prairie Ridge courts.
The Tigers won nine of the 11 matches in straight sets. They improved to 5-1 in the league and 8-1 overall, while Centennial’s records dropped to 1-5 and 1-6.
The Jaguars got a strong effort from Jack Halverson at No. 5 singles. He battled Frank Scott into a third-set supertiebreaker before falling, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (8).
Centennial’s No. 4 doubles team of Riley Earp and Ty Walker also lost a close match. They won the first set before eventually dropping a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (9) decision.
The Jaguars will play a conference meet at Southeast Polk on Tuesday. The Rams are 0-6 in the league and 0-9 overall.
